Respirators and Breathing Hazards

Your health depends on breathing clean air, but in today's highly industrial environment, breathing (repiratory) hazards are a part of life. These hazards are often invisible, and can cause health problems if you're exposed to them without effective protection.

DUSTS, FUMES, and MISTS are tiny particles that float in the air. Though you often can't see or smell them, they can become trapped in your airway and cause irritation. Dusts are caused by milling, sanding, crushing, and grinding operations. Fumes occur in high-heat operations, such as welding, smelting, or furnace work. Mists are found near spraying, mixing, and cleaning operations.

GASES and VAPORS are invisible contaminants suspended in the air. These can irritate your airway and, when highly concentrated, cause suffocation. GASES are often produced by chemical processing and high-heat operations. VAPORS can be found where parts cleaning, paint, or refining takes place.

YOUR RESPIRATOR
Your respirator is the key to your respiratory protection. Your health depends on it.
